"Ella, sei diventata una bestia" is a dance-theatre pièce, which debuted on 03/05/2024 at the Center Civic Guinardò, Barcelona, on the occasion of the International Dance Week and on 04/05/2024 at Nunart Guinardò, Barcelona.
The project was accompanied and supported by Nunart Guinardò and by Projectem7 an artistic residency program directed by Gisela Creus and Triny Reinoso.
The testimonies of five women follow one another on stage, five stories of bodies, within a game of opposing and ambivalent images that tell of the female universe.
“Beastly” and “monstrous” are adjectives that are frequently attributed to women, often in relation to their unexpected ability to speak, rebel and defend themselves.
And if a woman, in order to be and be there, has to be labeled as a "beast", then a beast will be.
The performers became that beast and they build a paradoxical, provocative and, at times, surreal ecosystem within which they dress in that supposed monstrosity to tell their stories.
Ella is a dance-theater piece in which the five performers assume the right, the duty and the privilege of sending a political message through the medium of art.
By freeing their voices, their singing and their cries communicate their intimate condition and denounce a system that continues to want them as victims and losers.
Sound and rhythm, produced solely by the bodies on stage, play with a courageous background silence and serve as key tools for the narrative.
The scene becomes the sixth body, which breathes, assists and supports a performative mechanism that does not simply intend to
present stories but recreate them to relive them together with the public.
