Alya is a visual artist and performer.
Over the years she has worked as a visual artist, anatomical drawing teacher and photographer and collaborated on numerous performative projects in Italy and abroad.
Now she is stil working on her performance 'Briciole', and presenting it in Italy and in Spain.
Her artistic research focuses on the relationship that humans weaves daily with their body: its shapes, its pains, its memories. She recognizes in the term 'anatomy' (ἀνατομή) the character of her gaze and her artistic research. Alya works with drawing, photography, writing, and performance.
Originally from Venice (It), she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Venice, the Haute école des arts du Rhin, in Strasbourg and Anfibia
multidisciplinary training program for performers and contemporary creators, in Bologna ; in parallel she studied different approaches to movement and theater: from singing to acting, from physical theater to Body Mind Centering ®, from contemporary dance to flamenco, participating in training periods in Italy, France and Spain.
Originally an anatomical illustrator, specialized in art print techniques, she works between the visual art and the performance. Audience participation play an essential role in her creation process through which she intends to give voice to intimate and often uncomfortable stories and testimonies. Three years ago she stars to develop an artistic research project entitled 'Nudità' (Nudity) that she still carry on, in Italy and abroad, through which she document and tell more than twenty stories of bodies.
In May 2023 she staged an extract of 'Nudità' in Teatri di Vita in Bologna (It): a short performance entitled 'Briciole', with an autobiographical monologue, conceived and interpreted by her.
Now she lives and works in Barcelona presenting 'Briciole' and working in other performative projects and collaborations.
